Kalangadoo Primary School is a small, community primary school that provides quality teaching and learning within a caring and safe environment.
We are currently a two class school of 27 students which allows for strong connections between our students, parents, staff and wider community. The Junior Primary class caters for Foundation to Year 2, with the Middle/Upper Primary class comprising of years 3 to 7.
Our core values of Respect, Courage and Excellence are embedded within our school.
The first known school in Kalangadoo was in a chapel that was built in 1868, with up to 40 children attending at various times. Due to a sharp drop in attendance, the school closed for a period, until it was reopened in 1892. Due to unsafe structural conditions, the school was moved to newly built premises of wood and iron on the corner of Adelaide and George Streets in 1893.
In 1904 a new limestone building was constructed across the road and the school was relocated in the same year, with an extension completed in 1908. In 1966, attendance had risen to 150 pupils, so the present-day site was developed and opened in 1967 to cater for the high number of students.
Kalangadoo is situated approximately 400km from Adelaide and 40km from Mount Gambier.
The current Principal is Alison Whibley. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to drop in or contact us.
